A photo is circulating in social media showing Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka enjoying some drinks while on their vacation in South Africa.
The three left for South Africa over the weekend and are expected to miss the inauguration ceremony for Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday. In a statement to the press earlier today, Raila urged his supporters to remain peaceful and welcome President Kenyatta in style.

Previous travels
Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Moses Wetangula, prominent Kenyan political figures, have previously traveled to South Africa for various purposes.
In April 2013, the trio visited South Africa for a holiday during the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta. They were spotted at a wildlife reserve, and their trip was described as a personal retreat.
In December 2024, Raila Odinga traveled to South Africa for a week-long working tour in his capacity as the African Union Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa.
During this trip, he assessed the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa Priority Action Plan 2 (PIDA-PAP2), which includes strategic projects in sectors like ICT, transportation, energy, and water.
He also held meetings with Nardos Bekele-Thomas, the head of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and engaged with South African leaders from commercial, nonprofit, and governmental sectors.
While there have been reports of Raila and Kalonzo traveling abroad for private missions, there is no verified information indicating that Moses Wetangula accompanied them on these trips.
Details about their travel destinations and purposes have often been kept private, with sources within their camps describing some trips as “short” or “confidential consultations”.
