Amani Coalition deputy leader Jeremiah Kioni has gone to court seeking to bar media houses from publishing stories regarding its performance in last monthโs election.
In his suit, the former Ndaragwa MP, who was Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadiโs running mate, has named 13 defendants among them the Nation Media Group,ย Standard Group,The Star newspaper,ย and a radio station.
He wants the High Court to issue a temporary injunction on the publication or airing of materials regarding Amaniโs showing in the just concluded election and articles that insinuate he voted for Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, instead of Mr Mudavadi.
Mr Kioni wants the Nation Media Group barred from publishing stories on his political fortunes in its online forums, until the case is heard and determined.
He also wants the Standard Media Group blocked from further publishing or distributing an article dubbed โMusalia ponders his future after dismal showing in election.โ
The Starย has also been barred from publishing articles on the Amani coalition team in its column, โThe Corridors of Powerโ, and in broadcasts on a morning talk show hosted by Maina Kageni and comedian Churchill Ndambuki of Classic FM.
The High Court is set to hear the application on Thursday.
