Upper Hill police have started investigations into claims the estranged wife of former presidential candidate Raphael Tuju assaulted her watchman on last Friday night. The guard at Lacoline Gardens, Masaba Road recorded a statement at Capital Hill police station.
Felix Omondi from Inter- Security Company told the police she was guarding the apartments when Wanjare drove back at home at about midnight. She accused Ruth Wanjare of injuring him when she violently drove through the gate and knocked him to the ground.
The case is booked in OB Number 14/24/8/2013 at 12.30 pm. In his statement to the police, Omondi claimed he was in the process of opening the gate when Wanjare hit the gate and knocked him to the ground.
The police confirmed having received reports from both Wanjare and Omondi on Saturday. Wanjare disputed the assault claims and insisted that the guard was delaying to open the gate yet there were robbers who were following her as she drove home.
โI was being attacked yet the watchman was slow in opening the gate,โ Wanjare told the Star yesterday. She was the first one to report to the police on the same night.
But Omondi who claims to have been given first aid by a tenant says she drove in and out after the incident only to return with patrol police officers. The guard is alleged to have been given Sh1,000 by Wanjare to go and seek medical assessment.
However, the guard reported the incident to his bosses and proceeded to the police the following day where he made the report. Police said they advised him to pick up a P3 Form today to officially allow them to investigate Wanjare and Tuju have been embroiled in a divorce case.
The man who was at the center of the case died mysteriously two months ago. Tony Ogunda, a former driver to Tujuโs is said to have been dating Wanjare.
