Triplets Mary, Marta and Magdalene and their younger sister Seraphine have been performing together for more than a decade. Through their music they advocate for social issues including the plight of girls in the Maasai community and Africa at large, the threat to wildlife and the environment and childhood cancers.

The quartet will perform at 8 p.m. March 1 at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The concert is an E3! performance, Explore – Experience – Engage. Doors will open at 7:10 p.m. for a pre-show discussion.

In 2011, the Moipei Quartet won the prestigious 4th South African Broadcasting Corporation Crown Gospel Music Award in Durban, South Africa, for “Best of Africa” with the first album, “In the Land of the Lion.” In June 2006, the girls were appointed the first ever UNICEF Child Ambassadors in Kenya.

Tickets are $10-$20 and can be purchased at the box office, online at touhill.org or by phone at 314-516-4949.

Their performance is sponsored by International Studies and Programs at UMSL.-blogs.umsl.edu
