Kenyaโs distance running luminary and businesswoman, Lorna Kiplagat will be awarded the first-ever โBingwaโ Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th annual Dinner with Champions to be held in Boston on April 19. Lorna is aย four-time World Champion and has also held World records in 5K, 10 Mile, 20K, and Half Marathon.
In addition to her success as an athlete, Lorna is also being recognized for her efforts to promote running-based tourism as the owner of the High Altitude Training Camp in Iten, a facility that has gained worldwide reputation as a premier running resort. Thanks to Lorna, Iten now boasts of the first Tartan Track outside Nairobi.

Dinner with Champions is held to honor elite runners who run in the Boston Marathon and is a joint effort between the Kenyan community in Boston and the embassy in DC. โItโs great when we can all come together to celebrate something that weโre really good at,โ said Ruth Kilungu, a Boston resident who has been to all three previous dinners. ย Among the chief guests this year will be Ambassador Jean Kamau, the Charge Dโaffair, a.i.ย Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga presided the first Dinner with Champions in April 2011.
