Mombasa County Governor Hassan Ali Joho left the country for a nine-day trip expected to boost ties with US cities.
The governor and his team will seek opportunities to experience and explore other cultures through long-term community partnerships, he said on Twitter.
While in the US, the team will meet Mary D. Kane โ President & CEO, Adam Kaplan โ Membership Director, and Taylor Woodruff โ Membership Coordinator of Sister Cities International, a statement from the Governor’s office added.
US Sister Cities International is a non-profit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between communities in the United States and those in other countries, particularly through the establishment of “sister cities”.
The organisation “strives to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development”.
After this trip, the county Government is keen to create an atmosphere in which economic and community development can be implemented and strengthened through educational, municipal, business, professional and technical exchanges and projects.
