Some 12 years since pulling out of Kenya in the wake of an attempted rocket attack against an Israeli charter aircraft in Mombasa, the news are emerging that El Al, Israelโs national airline, will finally resume flights to Nairobi from December of this year.
Aviation sources from Nairobi have received confirmation that the forthcoming visit by Israelโs Foreign Minister to Kenya later this week will set the stage for signing the agreement, among several other bilateral deals.
The Kenya Airport Authority has recently entered into a major deal with an Israeli company to improve aviation security at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a factor which no doubt played an important role in the decision by El Al to resume flights.
The new airlink will allow Israeli tourists, wishing to visit Kenya, to reach the destinations with ease while Kenyans and passengers from East Africa will also find it easier to fly to Israel for pilgrimage visits to the Holy Land.
