Should a person feel the need to bow out, it is expected that everyone should understand.

There was a time when yes meant yes, but now, yes often means, โ€œmaybeโ€ฆwell, ok, unless something comes up.โ€ There is still something to be said for perseverance, seeing the commitment through to the end, and simply keeping your word.

There is sometimes a good excuse, but more often we are excusing ourselves when we should not. Sometimes it can be tough.

We overextend or overcommit, and itโ€™s hard to follow through.

But, as Christians, our word should indeed be our bond, our yes should mean yes, and our no should mean no–anything else, comes from the evil one.

Matthew 5:37, king james version. Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
