Police are holding a woman for questioning in connection with the murder of Kabete MP George Muchai and his three aides.
The suspect is said to be the owner of one of the vehicles which was captured on camera at the scene of the fatal shooting on Saturday.
Records at the registrar of motor vehicles showed that the woman from Kabete in Kiambu owned the car, whose registration number was given as KBE 464*.
Detectives who arrested her found her in possession of several SIM cards from different service providers.
The suspect however said that she was robbed of the vehicle before the murder.
GALILEO PROBE
Nairobi County Head of Criminal Investigations Nicholas Kamwende confirmed the woman was being interrogated but said that they could not rule out the fact that she could have been “a victim of crime.”
“This is a matter the ongoing investigation will unravel,” Mr Kamwende said.
The investigators are also focusing on at least five women. Two women were captured on camera at the Galileo Lounge next to where Kabete MP and his family sat.
The women, according to the footage, arrived before the family and sat at the lounge on Friday night.
However, shortly before the legislator’s family left the lounge, the two women are seen leaving the place.
Detectives are also trying to establish whether the gang that killed the MP is the same which carjacked two other women a few hours before Mr Muchai’s murder
