My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on her visit to ER at the Harborview Medical Center. She does not have medical insurance and she is not eligible for Medicare due to the fact that she is in the USA as a visitor and she is not a US permanent resident.
She was approved for a six month Charity Care at Harborview Medical Center but unfortunately, they do not treat her kind of cancer. They referred her to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance which is part of University Of Washington that Harborview is also affiliated to.
She was told that the approved Charity Care does not transfer to SCCA therefore she has to pay for her treatment. Due to the emergency treatment need that my mother needs, the two facilities had long discussions between them, she was asked to go and apply for funding at SCCA which was denied and was asked to appeal.
She has been hopefully waiting to hear from SCCA but has not heard from them. We made follow-up phone call and was told no decision has been reached. Meanwhile, her health is deteriorating and the pain is unbearable. She vomiting, constipated, loss of weight and appetite. I am appealing to all wishers to support my mother with whatever you can to enable her get the medical treatment that she urgently needs.
