Jubilee’s advice to Cord principal Kalonzo Musyoka is “uncalled for, in bad faith” and a sign that its leaders have switched into “panic mode” ahead of the 2017 general elections, Wiper Party has said.
“For anyone to imagine that Cord is short of advisors is far-fetched and missing the point by a huge margin. In fact it only confirms that they now know Kenyans have lost confidence in their style of leadership,” said Wiper MPs and party officials in a statement on Monday.
Kitui East MP Marcus Muluvi, Robert Mbui of Kathiani and Peter Mathuki (East African Legislative Assembly MP) said Kalonzo was a presidential candidate and therefore playing a more superior league from Deputy President William Ruto.
They made the remarks after Ruto said Raila “should not have a problem with him since they did not contest against each other.”
On Sunday, the Deputy President urged the Cord leader to drop Wiper leader Kalonzo as his running mate in 2017 or face defeat, as was the case in the 2013 election.
The DP said Raila should stop blaming him for losing his presidential bid in 2013, but instead prepare for a bruising battle in 2017.
“If Ruto means well to Kenya and Kenyans he should encourage them come next elections to elect leaders who have a clean past record and with capacity to unite all Kenyans irrespective of their tribal backgrounds,” said the MPs.
They said Jubilee leaders must not divert attention from issues of corruption that are currently rocking the country.
“Let them carry their own cross and be accountable to Kenyans. Kenyans are tired of waking up daily on stories of corruption, insecurity or utterances that are not geared towards uniting our country.”
