Gor Mahia fans set two cars ablaze in the Nairobi CBD on Wednesday night after one of them was hit during a march following a successful game.
A witness said a speeding city county vehicle hit the fan prompting the others to vandalise two cars parked near the KenCom state, including a county van.
Trouble began when the crowd celebrating a 2-0 win against Ushuru FC caused a traffic snarl-up, the witness said.
Other witnesses said the crowd hurled stones at the vehicles before setting them on fire, and engaged county askaris in running battles.
Two Gor fans who were injured in the incident were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital.
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko warned the football fans against violence saying those engage in it and destroy property must be punished.
“I strongly condemn the unfortunate and unacceptable acts of hooliganism that were witnessed last evening,” he said via Facebook.
“We must all follow the rule of law and in no way should we condone such behaviour. Such acts of vandalism and lawlessness are a far cry from what Gor Mahia fans should stand for.”
