ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba has said he and leader Raila Odinga share a special bond which only they can understand and that can never be broken.
Ababu said being seen with President Uhuru Kenyatta at several events does not mean his loyalties have shifted.
Noting that he is in ODM to stay and will never be intimidated, he said he is the one MP on record for swearing his allegiance to Raila as “president of Kenya using a Bible”.
He pledged his loyalty to Raila during the swearing in of MPs after the disputed 2007 general election, which former president Mwai Kibaki won.
Ababu said he only received Uhuru in Western out of respect and political maturity, “just like Raila could receive the President in Kisumu”.
Speaking on a radio talk show, he rubbished reports that the Jubilee government is gaining ground in Western, saying it is an ODM stronghold.
“Western region is like a beautiful lady being wooed by a man but who always insists that she is taken and knows where she belongs,” he said
“You know I am Generali Ababu Namwamba and I promise to lead the one remaining bullet movement brigade front ahead of the 2017 general election.”
Ababu urged Cord supporters to ensure they get ID cards, and other leaders to support the course.
“The only favour we can offer our party as leaders is to go out and mobilise those who do not have IDs to register as voters, as I have always done,” said Ababu, who has been leading the Tokelezea ID initiative.
“We have cried for so long that our victory has been stolen. This time around we will put in place every measure to ensure our votes are protected, but first we must register as voters,” he said.
