Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka yesterday hit out at politicians who have launched early campaigns ahead of 2017.
He said they are wasting time and dismissed them as โa panicking lotโ.
The governor said it is pointless for anybody to launch campaigns for MCA, MP, senator and governor seats 20 months ahead of the elections.
Waithaka was speaking at Huruma slum in Ol Kalou town.
He commissioned Sh14 million toilet upgrading project.
The project is being been undertaken by the Ol Kalou Water and Sanitation Company in partnership with the Water Service Trust Fund.
He said he is ready to tackle any opponent when the time comes, but urged those eyeing his seat to hold their horses. โWe shall face each other when time comes. Let them stop panicking by launching early campaigns even before the elections are called,โ Waithaka said.
He said the JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital has undergone major transformation to upgrade it.
Soon the hospital will treat cancer and heart patients.
An emergency theatre for road accident victims and a maternity theatre will be opened.
Waithaka said the toilet upgrade project will improve sanitation in residential areas. The project targets 10,000 residents.
The governor was with executives Grace Gitonga (Water), Julius Kamau (Roads) and Gitau Thabanja (Lands).
Ol Kalou Water and Sanitation Company managing director Mary Kamau and other officials also attended.
