VIDEO: Brave Kenyan Drives Burning Fuel Tanker
A fuel tankerย driver on Friday surprised many after he went ahead to drive a truckย that was burning inย Matanya trading centre,ย Laikipia County.
Boniface Karanja had pulled over at a fuel station where he was emptying petrol, before the tanker caught fire sending shockwaves among locals in the area.
According to residents, the fire wasย caused by sparks of a charcoal stove from a nearby house.
On noticing the fire, Mrย Karanja jumped into the truck to drive it away from the filling station where it posed much danger, ย but only managed to drive a short distance as petrol was still leaking from the truck and the fire was quickly advancing.
Fortunately, he was able to jump off safelyย before the petroleum truck exploded and got engulfed in huge flames which caught power lines that were near the area.
The county’s fire department, which is located 25 kilometers from where the incident happened in Nanyuki town, arrived an hour later when the damage had happened.
The delay of the fire fighters is said toย have been caused by the heavy rains poundingย the areaย leaving most roads impassable.
This comes just five days after a petrol tanker collided with a clinker tipper and then burst into flames killing the drivers of the two vehicles at Kiu near Salama Town, Makueni County along Mombasa Road.
