In June 2016, media personality Caroline Mutoko publicly criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta, blaming him for the violence that erupted during the opposition’s anti-IEBC demonstrations.
Mutoko argued that by engaging with opposition leader Raila Odinga’s narrative, Kenyatta was allowing Odinga to dictate the political discourse, which she believed diverted attention from pressing national issues.
