Budalangโi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has resigned as ODM Secretary General.
Speaking at the Masinde Muliro University, Budalangโi Campus, Namwamba said he will make an official announcement in Nairobi.
He has also noted that he will tender his resignation letter next week.
Namwamba resigned from a position together with a section of grassroots leaders of ODM in Budalangโi.
His resignation comes barely a week after the partyโs vice chair Paul Otuoma resigned from his position saying that ODM lacked internal democracy.
Namwamba had also accused his party of giving him a raw deal by making him a โpowerlessโ Secretary General.
He has also been facing sharp criticism from a section of ODM leaders who have consistently accused him of failing to execute his mandate including skipping the recent Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) protests seeking the disbandment of the electoral body.
On Sunday, lawyer Edwin Sifuna said that Namwambaโs exit from ODM was long overdue terming him as a Jubilee โmoleโ.
Sifuna, speaking on Citizen TVโs Sunday Live show, further accused Namwamba of failing to offer the necessary leadership to the opposition party.
