NTV’s anchor Larry Madowo and blogger Dennis Itumbi sparred on Twitter on Friday over the suspension and reinstatement of the State House’s press team.

The two took to Twitter for an exchange of jibes over President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to crack the whip on his press team.

The outspoken Madowo mockingly indicated on his Twitter handle that the embarrassing firing and rehiring of the directors had allowed them to know who is in-charge at the President’s media office.

According to a statement by the Presidential Service Communication Unit (PSCU) on Friday, President Kenyatta reinstated the directors putting an end to days of speculation on their fate.

According to deputy chief of staff Nzioka Waita, State House admitted that the unit had experienced challenges but would remain in place.

Madowo’s remarks, however, were not taken kindly by Mr Itumbi who criticised the Trend’s host for making ‘baseless’ comments on the issue.

Dressed down? Back from where? You know @LarryMadowo Facts are important but then again maybe not on the Trendhttps://twitter.com/LarryMadowo/status/748871718622621696

The news anchor had also mentioned that the directors would not be making appearances on television interviews to speak on behalf of the presidency.

Itumbi rubbished Madowo’s comments noting that his facts were badly skewed and that he was just spreading rumors.

.@LarryMadowo statement of Facts. The question here should be fact checking by media. https://twitter.com/LarryMadowo/status/748873015216238592
