Former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth has refused to rule out vying for Murang’a governorship. As Gatanga MP, Kenneth was constantly ranked one of the best performing MPs in terms of CDF use.
It was assumed he would vie for a governor position in 2013, but he decided to go for the top seat with disastrous results. He came in a distant fourth with only 72,000 votes, translating to 0.6% of the total votes.
It is unlikely he will be making that error again, as he has been giving small hints that he is considering a smaller position.
Supporters on Twitter have been asking him whether he will vie for Murang’a Governorship, and his response has been in the line of “listening to all views”, “making decision soon” etc.
His name has also been floated around for the Nairobi governor seat, but the prospects of facing Sonko and Kidero could dissuade him.
In Murang’a, the ride will also not be smooth. He will face a somewhat popular incumbent, Mwangi wa Iria, and a determined and well connected Jamleck Kamau.
