The motion to impeach Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero will still be tabled on Tuesday afternoon despite chaos that derailed the first attempt.
On Thursday last week the mover of the notice of motion, Viwandani ward MCA Samuel Nyangโwara, was beaten by MCAs affiliated to Cord who termed him as a traitor.
In the motion, Mr Nyangwara wants Dr Kidero impeached because of the suspicious deals he approved including a revenue collection deal awarded to JamboPay E-jiji pay and an agreement with Chinese car maker Forton to supply garbage trucks.
Speaking to Nairobi News on phone, Mr Nyangโwara said he will tableย the private member motion on Tuesday and allow the house committee time to schedule it for debate.
NOT AFRAID
โI am not afraid (of chaos). This is a private member motion, not a party motion,โsaid Mr Nyangโwara.
The MCA, who has since defected from Cord and to Jubilee coalition, has managed to get signatures from 56 MCAs to support the bid to impeach Governor Kidero.
He said that his motion will shade light on how the county government has incurred a huge debt of Sh42 billion in the last three years.
It will also highlight how Dr Kidero has violated procurement laws by single sourcing companies that get contracts, using revenue collected at source, as well as diverting conditional funds meant for free maternity for other services.
โI want to know what led to the unclear exit of the procurement chief officer, why the procurement officer left and where is he now?โposed Mr Nyangโwara.
VALID MOTION
Mr Nyangโwara denied allegations that the motion is unprocedural since he had drafted it in July. He said the validity of a motion determined by the date the clerk approved it, in this case September 28, 2016.
Majority Chief Whip David Mberia has vowed the motion will not be tabled because it is moved by an ODM member who seeks to impeach an ODM governor.
He said that if Mr Nyangwara had defected and is eating Jubilee money should not involve other people but eat alone.
โWhere will he bring the motion,โakule Eurobond pole poleโ(Let him eat Eurobond money),โsaid Mr Mberia.
