Former President Daniel arap Moi underwent a minor operation Friday evening at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, to ease pain on his knee.
According to his Press Secretary Lee Njiru, the retired President is in good spirits and is recuperating at his residence.
Moi, who served as President of Kenya for 24 years was at the 12th Graduation Ceremony of the Kabarak University on December 16 last year.
During his remarks at the ceremony also attended by Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi, a jovial Moi commended the government for sealing loopholes in the administration of national examinations and securing the integrity of the nationโs institutions of learning.
โPoor quality education is very dangerous to our country, and is not a laughing matter,โ Moi who is also Chancellor of Kabarak University warned while addressing graduands.
โIn my thoughts, I never had room for sub-standard or half-baked graduates coming from Kabarak,โ he noted in his speech underscoring the need for quality education in public universities.
President Moi has significantly cut out on public appearances often missing out on burial ceremonies of some of his key allies including John Keen and Mark Too, in December 2016, both of whom he mourned as personal friends and freedom fighters.
