NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 8 – Wavinya Ndeti has been knocked out of the Machakos gubernatorial race for being a member of two political parties.
The IEBC nominations disputes tribunal chaired by Wafula Chebukati has nullified Wavinya’s nomination as the Wiper candidate after establishing that she is still a member of her Chama Cha Uzalendo party.
The nullification is a reprieve for incumbent Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

The petition challenging Wavinya’s candidature was filed by Kyalo Peter Kyuli, a Member of County Assembly who argued that Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper allowed a stranger to participate in its nominations held on April 30 having failed to beat the defection deadline on April 5.
