Uhuru Publicly Blasts Waititu: President Uhuru Kenyatta has been very vocal about how politicians should shelve their political ambitions for the 2022 General Election to focus on serving Kenyans first.

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu once got on the wrong side of President Kenyatta for being one of the leaders positioning themselves for 2022.

During a stopover in Murang’a County after the funeral of veteran politician Kenneth Matiba in April 2018, Uhuru voiced his displeasure at the governor’s political activities.

He started by acknowledging that 2022 was inevitable but urged leaders not to make that their priority.

“We know 2022 is coming and we have planned how we’ll go about it,” he started.

Getting angry, he switched to vernacular and continued, “These leaders think they are building themselves but let’s work first. Do you hear me Waititu?”

“Stop waking up every day thinking about…you think the person who will be picked to become the Deputy President will be the one making the most noise? You will be the last,” Uhuru roared.

“The person who will get the position must be a hard worker, or what do you people want?” he asked the crowd which approved.

President Kenyatta also extended the ‘work first’ order to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Murang’a counterpart Mwangi wa Iria.
