President Uhuru Kenyatta has cancelled his Western tour to deal with Jubilee Party issues, sources privy to the matter have said.
The sources said on Tuesday that the issues concerned nominations, which Uhuru has decided to deal with before taking any other trips.
The President cancelled his two-day visit to Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties to go to Western.
State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said the tours to the two counties were called off due to unavoidable circumstances.
Uhuru was to go to Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties.
Western is believed to the political turf for the National Super Alliance party.
Jubilee and the Opposition have been touring parts of country to campaign ahead of the AUgust 8 vote.
Uhuru is seeking re-election but NASA chiefs led by Raila Odinga want to remove him from power.
