Sammy Kitwara of Kenya won the prestigious 10 KM Peachtree Road race after clocking 28 min & 05 Sec.
And as NTV’s BMJ Muriithi reports from Atlanta, it was pomp and color as the athlete was feted alongside Mathew Kisorio who took the 2nd position at a ceremony attended by the Kenyan ambassador to the US, Elkanah Odembo, among thousands of other people.
Sabastian Sawe and Stacy Ndiwa, both from Kenya, won the 2024 AJC Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, Georgia. Sawe won the men’s race, and Ndiwa won the women’s race.
Men’s race
Sabastian Sawe: The 28-year-old Kenyan won the men’s race with a time of 28:03. Sawe was the 2023 World Half Marathon Champion and the top-ranked road racer in the world.
Women’s race
Stacy Ndiwa: The 31-year-old Kenyan won the women’s race with a time of 31:12. Ndiwa is a two-time LA Marathon winner.
Other winners
Daniel Romanchuk: The 25-year-old from Illinois won the wheelchair men’s race with a time of 19 minutes and 37 seconds. The AJC Peachtree Road Race is a 10K race.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race starts in Buckhead near Lenox Square Mall and ends in Piedmont Park.
