Kenyans living in the Diaspora experience a unique risk when immediate family members in Kenya die and they are expected to purchase a ticket to travel back home. They are also expected to contribute to the funeral expenses of their loved one. The primary risk is the death of parents living in Kenya. CIC has developed a solution for this need and is offering a $2,000 insurance cover that will be paid in case of death of declared next of kin or dependents of a Kenyan living in the Diaspora.
Product Features
The market indicated that $2,000 is sufficient to purchase a ticket and for contributions towards the funeral expense for the departed. The cover provides a shared cover of $2,000 in case of the death of either of parents, spouse, children or siblings who live in Kenya. The amount is payable once on the first demise of any of the above dependents.

Introduction
Kenyans living in the Diaspora have experienced difficulty when a fellow Kenyan living in their community dies and the cost of repatriation is born by friends and family. The funds that have to be raised eat into other peopleโs savings. CIC has developed a solution to cater for this last expense to ensure that Kenyans living in the Diaspora receive a dignified funeral and return home in the unfortunate event of death. Group Funeral Expense Cover provides insurance for members of an organized group in case of death. For an affordable premium, members of the group will receive a specific sum assured. The group must have a minimum of 10 people and should not have come together for the sole purpose of taking insurance.
Benefits and Features
A death benefit of is payable to the beneficiary to provide cover for:
Transportation of the body
Funeral expenses
Unforeseen expenses
The benefits mentioned above can be offered on an acceleration basis whereby; If you or any family member would pass on we provide compensation to cover transportation costs to Nairobi and arrange for preservation of the body at a funeral home in Nairobi. We also cover transportation to the funeral within Kenya. All this will be within the sum assured of the person or family insured.
CIC proposes two options for the Group Funeral Expense cover as follows:
Option 1: Group Funeral Expense
This product provides cover for the individual members in the group for the premiums outlined in the table below.
Option2: Shared Family Group Funeral Expense
This product will provide cover for a family as a shared benefit. This means that CIC will pay for the first death in a family. A family in this case consists of a principal member, spouse and children below the age of 25. There is no limit to the size of the family.

โข Once the sum assured is exhausted in a claim within the term of cover, the cover is renewable on an annual basis.
