Video of the Day : Oliech’s Mother Throws A Tantrum in the Courts

DRAMA AND EMBARRASSMENT: There was drama in High Court on Wednesday when the mother to Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech demanded the lawyer representing Kenya Commercial Bank to return her title deed held by the institution over a Sh2m loan.

Mary Auma Oliech could not hide her frustration following the bankโ€™s decision to sell her property worth over Sh40 million to recover the amount she borrowed in 2010.

Minutes after the case was mentioned before Commercial Division judge Joseph Mutava for further directions, Auma began to harass lawyer Phillip Nyachoti who is representing the bank.

She told the advocate โ€œI am not going to accept anything from the bank, give me the title deed right now. The title deed is in my name, we will go with you to the bank so that you can return it to me.โ€

Auma went on to say that โ€œI donโ€™t owe the bank a single cent it should return my title deed right way.โ€

Nyachoti, who was caught unawares by the move, had to be escorted from Milimani Law Courts by court orderlies to save him from the confrontation.

Earlier on, the bank admitted that it is in possession of the title deed but gave an undertaking that it will not release the document to any purchaser until the case is resolved.

The bank however asked for more time to respond to the application lodged by Oliechโ€™s two siblings who are opposed to the sale of the property.

An intended buyer through an advocate sought to be joined in the proceedings and asked to be served with the said application.

Judge Mutava ordered advocate Tom Wachakana who is appearing on behalf of Elsie and Kennedy Oliech to serve Auma with the suit papers before November 1 when the case will be heard again.

The two moved to court last week under a certificate of urgency to block the bank from selling the property.
