Wednesday December 12, 2012 – Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant James Nyoro has condemned the travel ban imposed on Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto by Europe and United States.
Speaking as he launched his bid in Kiambu town on Tuesday, Nyoro said the two deserve better treatment by the international community because they are still suspects and have not been found guilty of any offence to warrant such treatment.
โThe two have shown their respect for the ICC process and are not in breach of any conditions set by the Rome statute. They must be treated in a civilised manner that respects international law,โNyoro said who is also the former Rockefeller Foundation director.
He said it is unacceptable for the West to communicate the ban in a casual manner without respect to international etiquette.
โOne would have expected the said Western diplomats to deliver the information around travel bans in a structured way instead of using informal channels of communication that place no premium on personal feelings,โ Nyoro said.
