Wednesday March 20, 2013 –ย Prime Minister Raila Odinga has defied the Government ban on public rallies, and is set to address major rallies in Nyanza and Western region over the weekend.
Raila, who lost the last General Election to Uhuru Kenyatta, will be accompanied by his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and are scheduled to address a series of rallies in Kakamega, Kisumu and Nakuru on Saturday and Sunday.
CORD Secretariat on Wednesday morning said the meetings are part of many others to be held across the country to thank supporters who voted for them during the March 4 General Election.
โWe will be meeting caucuses across the country to encourage and thank them. We will also tell them that their support was not in vain,โ Raila said
On Saturday, the PM, Kalonzo and Bungoma senator-elect Moses Wetangโula will be in Kakamega while on Sunday, Raila will headย to Kisumu as Kalonzo leads another group to Nakuru.
The meetings come amid a Government ban on all political rallies claiming they are threats to peace.
