On 4th. of December 2013, the Kenya Diaspora Alliance will be in the Kenyan Courts again.ย This time again, the organization will try to use legal means to force the Kenya Government to involve Kenyans living abroad, inย the electoral voting process in Kenya come 2017.ย For the second time, after the organization lost the first round in itsย case to have the Kenyans in the Diaspora participate fully in the electoral voting process,ย it has risen with a vow to fight to the end, to see that Kenyans in the Diaspora, are allowed to vote and to hold meaningful positions of leadership in Kenya, so that they can exploit their acquired knowledge and expertise, in the Nation building of their motherland.
Unlike during its first case last year, 2012,ย support has continued to grow momentarily, proving that pressuresย to allow Kenyans living abroad to vote, have also been growing gradually.ย So far, no one knows what will follow if the Kenyan courts, rules out of the favor to allow Kenyans living abroad to vote come 2017.ย But one thing that is very clearย if the ruling comes out negative,ย is that the Kenyans in the Diaspora will be very angry with the Kenya Government, and will probably not end their fight there.ย Thereafter, they mayย start lobbying for the amendment of the Kenya constitution, in order to pave way for the unconditional voting process for all Kenyans living abroad.
4th. of December, 2013ย isย in less than one weeks time from today. It will be the day when the fate of Kenyans in the Diaspora, in relation to voting during Kenya’s elections, will be known.ย Let us all wait and see.
