Lady Bee is a secular turned gospel artiste who has graced our screens with hits such as‘Genge Love’ featuring the celebrated Genge icon, Nonini and solo hit ‘Mrembo’.
However, she made her debut in the gospel industry with ‘Nakiri’ released late last year
Her sudden change from secular to gospel came at a time when her fans were wondering whether she was trying to go independent of Nonini who was her mentor.
Away from her flourishing music career, very few know that she was addicted to alcohol, cigarettes and bhang.
In an interview with The Nairobian last week, she opened up about her drug addiction menace. I bet no one ever noticed I was high.
I could not do without cigarettes, bhang or alcohol. I also consumed ‘Miraa’. It’s unladylike, but I needed something to neutralize ‘steam’ from bhang and cigarettes.
At some point bhang wasn’t enough for me. I was tempted to upgrade to cocaine and other hard drugs”, she said.
However, this habit changed when she was invited by a friend to church for a ‘kesha’ and she subsequently got born again.
