Kenyan lands top UN job in New York NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 26- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Carole Wainaina as Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resources Management.
The announcement was made on Thursday from the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Wainaina replaces Catherine Pollard who takes over as Assistant Secretary-General for the General Assembly and Conference Management.
She earlier served at various senior management positions at the UN and has a wealth of experience from both local and international organizations, which include human resources strategy, leadership development, change management and driving organisational transformation.
48-year-old, Wainaina holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, majoring in Human Resources Management and Marketing.
She has previously worked at the Coca-Cola Company as Group Human Resources Director, Europe and held various progressively responsible positions, also at The Coca-Cola Company based in Turkey, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Kenya.
She started her career as a Management Consultant at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Kenya and has served as the Special Assistant to the Director of the Kenya Wildlife Service.
