There is a debate going on in social media about the new Kenyan law that requires a couple to present themselves at the AG’s office 21 days before the wedding date.
According to this new law,one is required to present a copy of ID and a copy of certification of the presiding minister. The Diaspora Kenyans view the law as very impractical especially if both ย of the couple reside in the Diaspora which is always the case.
It is a dream of many Kenyans in Diaspora to have their Dream Wedding in the motherland Kenya and with this new law, many will not be able to achieve those dreams.
Pastor Jackson Kingori of Neema Gospel Church has three members planning to get married in Kenya and are affected by this new law.
Diaspora weddings in Kenya is part of tourism boaster which is much needed at this time and it is in the Government’s ย interest to help those wishing to have their wedding in Kenya.
There is need for Diaspora Kenyans to petition the Kenya Government for consideration of waiver.
