CID officers in Makueni County arrested a young man with alleged links to terror group Al Shabaab at Shimo Estate near Wote Market.
Makueni DCIO Helena Wairimu has confirmed the arrest saying Ngandi Mwikali, alias Sheikh Hassan, who had had been missing for the past six years had suspiciously re-appeared. Police are also hunting down his alleged leader Sheikh Mohammud and others.
Speaking to the press, Wairimu said that they are investigating an alleged plot by Ngandi, Sheikh Mohammud and other members of the terror cell to execute an attack in the area.
Officers from Anti-Terror Police Unit are expected to conduct a further probe and the CID boss has urged area residents to help police nab the rest.
This comes just a day after the police released pictures of terror suspects who are believed to be behind a botched attack on Kenya Defence Forces camp in Lamu.
