Cord co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka are not in attendance in Saturday’s rally organised by ODM in Kibera.
The rally has been organized “to push for justice for post-election violence victims”.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka flew to Portugal on Wednesday for a meeting of global political leaders on the invitation by the Centrist Democrat International.
Wetangula on the other hand is in Kakamega where he is holding campaigns alongside Amani Coalition’s Musalia Mudavadi.
Wetang’ula and Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale are also expected in Malava for a funds-drive in aid of boda boda riders from the constituency before heading to Tongaren for the burial of an uncle to Mudavadi before addressing a campaign rally in Malava constituency.
“Senator Wetangula and I agreed we should be in Bungoma and Kakamega counties for the two functions”, Khalwale said on Thursday.
The Kibera rally comes just two weeks after CORD leader Raila Odinga snubbed Wetangula’s presidential launch at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega.
Raila later explained he did not attend the event because it was marred by chaos.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are leading Jubilee supporters for a thanksgiving service in Afraha stadium, Nakuru to celebrate the collapse of Kenyan cases at the ICC.
On Friday, Raila termed the Nakuru prayer meeting as a mockery to victims of post election violence likening it to “dancing on the graves of the dead.”
“We must moan the continued lack of justice for those who were killed, the helpless women who were raped and the multitude of persons who lost their homes and were displaced,” he said.
Cord’s management committee co-chairmen, Senators James Orengo (Siaya), and Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu said on Thursday that the three principals were expected to address the Kibera rally.
The Kibera rally was meant to be a show of unity in the coalition after murmurs emerged of possible rifts after Raila skipped Wetangula’s presidential launch in Kakamega. However, Kalonzo and Wetangula’s “missing in action” move points to a different story.
