A section of Members of County Assembly (MCAs) was Wednesday captured on camera fighting during Madaraka Day celebrations in Athi River, Machakos County.
Athi River Township MCA Michael Mutua is said to have accused area Member of Parliament Patrick Makau of laxity, prompting another MCA to interrupt him.
Mr Mutua reacted angrily by unleashing a terrific slap on his colleague before pouncing on another man who tried to control the situation.

County administrators and security officers deployed at the ceremony had a hard time separating the charged mob that was baying for one another’s blood.

It took the officers more than one hour to cool the tempers with a few youth being arrested after which the event continued.
Addressing members of the public after the mayhem, Makau distanced himself from the chaos terming the incident as cheap politics.
