Two Rivers – East Africa’s largest mall is set to open on Valentine’s Day 2017. This is after missing 3 scheduled opening dates.
“Some of our tenants were not ready to open in September and the decision was made to align everybody and move the opening date to Valentine’s Day next year,” Centum chief executive James Mworia said last week.
Key tenants are already on the ground mobilizing equipment and furniture, and also branding their premises. The humongous mall will house about 200 shops on 65,000 square metres of lettable space. The current largest mall in the region is Garden City with 50,000 square metres.
Two Rivers is designed to be an entertaining place to visit, unlike the current breed of malls we have in the city.
It comes with a water front, branded as the largest outdoor entertainment in a mall in East Africa. Here you’ll find flume rides, waterways dancing fountains and laser shows. There are also plans to install a dolphinarium for, you guessed it, dolphins.
There’s also the Aquaplay with bumper boats, flume rides, water zorbing, fountains and pop-up jets among other facilities.
Then there’s the Chris Kirubi Square (I know). It will have a 500 inch outdoor screen. The square will hold 2000 people and will be used for sports, activations, advertising, promotions and other events.
Inside, there will be a ‘Magic Planet’.

”Magic Planet will offer the most unique indoor entertainment offer in the region. This will be the first “mining for magic” concept implemented anywhere in the world. It offers both an educative and interactive offer. Magic planet will occupy 2,500 SQM on two levels.
Magic planet promises to change the face of family fun in the region through its numerous rides, games and attractions. It is a place where everyone is obsessed with fun. Magic Planet offers number of rides, attractions, games, gaming lounge, climbing wall, soft play, and redemption and merchandise games.”
There will also be an amphitheater with 3,600 seats.
And an events square that can hold 1500 people.
The rooftop and basement parking can hold 5000 cars.
They must be commended for what they did with the road and underpass.
