Niagara: Missing Kenyan Native Girl Found Safe
She had been missing for nearly two days. Police found the Kenyan native in St. Catharines at a Tim Hortons. She went missing from a boarding school in Fort Erie where she was staying temporarily.
According to the vice principal, the girl was staying at the Niagara Christian Collegiate overnight and was expected to catch a flight to Kenya the next morning but she was reported missing just before 11:30 Saturday night.
She had been staying at the school since Wednesday and had worked out a plan with the childโs parents, who live in Kenya to have the girl fly back home. The schoolโs vice principal says thatโs what Murenga wanted.
But she vanished hours before her flight. Police say she was carrying several bags of clothing with her but say she was unfamiliar with the Niagara area.
Itโs not clear how she got to St.Catharines but police say her disappearance is not being treated as suspicious and an Amber Alert was not called because they didnโt believe she was abducted.
