Two Rivers Mall, the biggest shopping centre in Nairobi yet, has been opened officially today, in a ceremony officiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The mall, which has been developed by investment firm Centum, had seen its opening delayed a number of times, but is now hoping to establish itself firmly in the East African retail scene.
President Kenyatta encouraged investment in Kenya saying the country is the gateway to the region and said that his government is ready to partner with the private sector to improve the business environment in the country.
After over a whole year’s postponement, the 25.2 billion shillings Two Rivers mall is finally officially opening. The firm, whose ownership includes Centum Investments and Old Mutual Group, has 220 shops and has come up when interest has been drawn to the question of sustainability of malls in Kenya with, for instance, Nairobi, hosting many malls, which broadly have similar offerings.
