– The former MP is seeking to unseat the governor
A former member of parliament has caused a stir after he decamped to the National Super Alliance’s Amani National Congress (ANC) then made a u-turn and returned to Jubilee.
Danson Mungatan, husband to K24’s Mwanaisha Chidzuga had made the decision to leave President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp after Tana River Governor Hussein Dado joined Jubilee from Wiper Party.
Uhuru paraded Dado alongside other defectors on Sunday, March 11, at the Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa in a rally.
Mungatana is eyeing the Tana River governorship seat and was expected to do so under the Jubilee ticket.
However, he felt sidelined when Uhuru warmly welcomed Dado to Jubilee.
Mungatana had decamped to Mudavadi’s ANC party and was seen in ANC colours but has now maintained that he is in Jubilee and will battle for the ticket with Dado.
According to him, he had visited several parties in NASA to strategise but residents want him to be in Jubilee.
โI did not go to ANC alone, in fact, I also went up to ODM and several other parties but I am still in Jubilee,โ Mungatana said.
Mungana was Garsen MP until 2013 and also served as assistant minister.
He is a lawyer by profession.
