Lipa deni – DP Ruto’s message to Kipchumba Murkomen
Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has been urged by Deputy President William Ruto to honour his 2018 wager with comedy group Propesa.
The defaulted bet got the DP’s attention during Tuesday’s meeting with content creators where Kimutai of Propesa, who is famed for his “Hallo William” piece, lamented that Murkomen had negated on a deal.
A ‘call’ that had DP Ruto, who was donning the infamous brown ‘chaget’, in stitches.
“Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, lipa deni ya Propesa. Dawa ya deni ni kulipa, my friend,” read a post on DP Ruto’s Facebook page.
According to Propesa, the 2018 bet saw the group wager in support of Everton in a highly anticipated match against Kenyan side Gor Mahia. Murkomen had his money on Gor.
The losing party was to donate balls to ten schools.
When the whistle blew for the game to start, Everton players mowed the green lawn at Goodison Park with Gor Mahia players and strolled to a convincing 4-0 victory.
With Gor thrashed, the senator renounced his bet and declared that he will not honor it since he made it under duress.
“I want to make it very clear that I was not given time to think through that bet. You mobilised a number of people around me so in law we can that I was under duress and undue influence. So for that reason, your bet does not stand. This is not the Gor Mahia I expected to play with Everton and we must revisit,” said Murkomen.
The meeting held in Karen saw Terrence Creative, Jaymo Ule Msee, Auntie Jemimah and many more canvass on what is affecting the industry.
