United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala on Thursday, May 30, read the riot act to the close allies of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua warning them against indiscipline andย disrespecting the party.
In a media interview with Citizen TV, Malala promised to identify and list the names of the politicians in question within one week, which he stated will go a long way in ending ย fights within the party.
He added that the politicians were being driven by selfish interests to bring division and disunity within the political outfit.
“We are going to deal with those handlers and henchmen of the President and the DP who are trying to incite and create problems which are not there,” Malala remarked.
“We have profiled them, know their names and in the coming week we shall deal with them individually. I have been given the instruments to deal with them and you shall see.”
“The President and the DP are working okay, it is those under them who are fighting each other.”
The Secretary-General also emphasised that the party would not tolerate indiscipline and would crack the whip if need be to ensure the party steers towards unity.
“We want everyone within the party to assist the president in fulfilling his mandate. As a party, we have suspended discussions about elections.”
While addressing his decision to publicly call out the UDA politicians instead of summoning them privately, Malala noted that the party had already exhausted other means of conflict resolution.
Buoyed by theย recent China trip,ย Malala assured the public that the UDA party would remain united and deliver the promises contained in the ruling party’s manifesto.
The remarks come barely 24 hours after the Secretary-General ordered Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba to cease disrespecting the party leadership or face disciplinary action.
He also called out CSs Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport) and Moses Kuria (Public Service), directing them to refrain from engaging in political activities.
