Fresh details have emerged revealing why President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Friday failed to name Jubilee Party officials at the Bomas of Kenya.

Prior to jubilee’s Special National Governing Council (NGC) meeting, sources from the party had indicated that Uhuru and Ruto would name Party officials to end power struggle among political aspirants.

However, during the meeting, Ruto declined to name Jubilee officials and instead presented the campaign team stating that they would name the Party Heads three months after 2017 Elections.

With the turn of events, Jubilee officials later disclosed that they were surprised by the failure to name new Party officials.

Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, stated that the President and his DP had not resolved anything by naming the campaign team.

“The feelings of the aspirants to have a non-partisan team are legitimate and their issue has not been sorted. Most of those picked are politicians with vested interests and they may use their positions to scare off opponents,” Mbiuki affirmed.

A close source within the party, who spoke to the Standard, divulged that a secret meeting between Uhuru and Ruto at State House on Friday morning, prior to the meeting caused a change of heart.

The source intimated that a decision to name a new list of Jubilee Party interim officials was withdrawn at the last minute for fear of possible fallout.

“We all knew that the list of officials was to be officially released on Friday. Even key players in the party had been informed. But there was an early morning meeting between President Kenyatta and DP Ruto at State House after which the list of officials was withdrawn from yesterday’s agenda. There was conventional opinion that the forum would not be the best platform to unveil the list,” the source disclosed.

At one point, the DP was heckled by members of the crowd while others ran towards the dais as he read the names out.

Sources within the Jubilee Party disclosed that Uhuruto’s failure to name the officials could spark fresh rebellion within the party.
