Huntsville, AL – A Huntsville college student is using the power of social media to launch his candidacy for president. George Muumbo, a student at Alabama A&M is running for president of Kenya. The 37-year-old officially threw his hat into the ring Tuesday evening.
Muumbo says Facebook and other social media has allowed him to communicate with Kenyans while continuing his education in Huntsville. “I’m here to formally announce my candidacy for the office of the presidency as well as the commander in chief for the defense forces for the Republic of Kenya,” says Muumbo.
The presidential candidate plans to move back to Kenya as the election draws nearer. Kenyans will select their next president in late 2012.
