Kenyan immigrant gets prison for resisting arrest in Washington

A Kenyan immigrant who overstayed his visa was ordered to prison for a year and a day for resisting arrest when immigration officers discovered he was out of status.

Prosecutors said Peter Maina, 43, of Washington state, was present when United States Deportation Officers arrested another person. The officers discovered that Mainaโ€™s visa had expired and attempted to arrest him, but Maina resisted arrest and flailed around to the point where one officer suffered a broken leg, a news release from the United States Attorneyโ€™s office said.
