Bringing Kenya to the wild-wild west

The Kenyan-American community in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico is small compared to others in large metropolitan cities in the United States.

Albuquerque is a city of approximately one million residents situated in the Southwestern United States.  The Kenyan community in Albuquerque has nevertheless made efforts to link the city with the Kenyan government in a bid to boost investments and trade.

The state of New Mexico is among the largest and oldest producers of oil, natural gas and nuclear power in North America—resources that have recently been discovered in Kenya. It is on this basis that the Kenyan American community in Albuquerque, led by Kenya’s Consul General; Ambassador Dr. Wenwa Odinga- Oranga met with the city’s officials and issued the proclamation (shown above) initiating this relationship, while celebrating the Kenya’s Golden Jubilee.
