Retired President Daniel arap Moi was over the weekend a victim of the never ending death hoaxes.
According to reports on Twitter, Mzee Moi had passed away at Aga Khan Hospital while undergoing treatment. The former leader, 89, had apparently died of cardiac arrest.
Nairobi senator Mike Sonko did not help the situation, tweeting โRIP our former leaderโ. He would later edit that on Sunday night to read, โRIP our beloved former leader Mutula Kilonzo.โ
Anyway, several people confirmed that Moi was indeed alive and well, and strong as always.
The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) will on Monday present a petition to Parliament for the removal of nine IEBC Commissioners from office.
A statement sent to newsrooms said:
“This unprecedented event will be held today (Monday) at 2:15pm at the National Assembly (Main Parliament buildings).”
Cord has been categorical that they will not be part of another election presided over by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
DAMAGING CLAIMS
Last week, Kisumu Senator Anyangโ Nyongโo said: โI donโt think our elections should be run by a criminal organisation.โ
Members of the Parliamentary Public Investment Committee alsoย clashed over whether the IEBC should be disbanded.
Leaders from Jubilee are however against any move by the opposition against the polls body and termed the latest calls for removal of the team as a ‘smear campaign’.
A recording recently emerged in which an electoral commission official was allegedly heard casting doubts on the credibility of last year’s General Election.
