Facebook has announced that the Internet.org app will be arriving in Kenya this week, which is slightly more than a year after the launch of Internet.org, an initiative designed to bring Internet access to everyone on the planet.
The Android-only app delivers free access to โbasicโ internet services, covering education, employment, finance, health and more.
Among the services available are BBC News, BBC Swahili, Facts for Life, Wikipedia and, of course, Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
Users wonโt receive data charges through their mobile network operator when browsing through the app, which, for launch, is restricted to Airtel subscribers.
Todayโs news means the app is now in its third African country after Zambia and Tanzania.
