The High Court has suspended the prosecution of Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti, who is facing rape charges.
The case was suspended pending the outcome of a case filed by Mr Mwiti challenging his prosecution in the rape case.
Justice Weldon Korir on Monday said that the trial, which was to start on August 19 at a magistrateโs court, had been suspended until further orders are given by the High Court.
At the same time, the victimโs lawyers protested at the release of a confidential report on the case and which was published in a local paper.
The MP was released on a Sh100,000 cash bail after denying raping, intimidating and assaulting a married woman on March 21.
