A score of youth took to the streets on Tuesday in support of Devolution CS Anne Waiguru who is currently at the EACC with her lawyer, over corruption allegations.
The youth marched outside the Integrity Centre carrying placards written, “Keter don’t try otherwise we will impeach you too” and “We want Waiguru to continue with the project”.
The protestors said they will wait until the CS leaves the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices.
“We expect her to talk to us, we want to hear her voice. Nobody should interfere with Waiguru,” one said.
This comes after Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter said he will lead Kenyans to evict Waiguru from office should she fail to resign this week over the claims.
Keter resubmitted the impeachment motion after the first attempt was rejected by Speaker Justin Muturi on October 23, for failing to reach the required threshold.
On November 3, a register presented to Public Accounts Committee indicated that the Devolution and Planning ministry spent Sh450,000 for 18 custom-made condom dispensers.
The register also revealed Sh1.7 million was spent for a screen in CS Anne Waiguru’s office and Sh12 million for an office partition, in the 2013/2014 financial year.
But the Planning PS Peter Mangiti refuted the claims saying the document was erroneously presented to the committees. Mangiti said the screen was not television as reported and was not in ย Waiguru’s office.
Waiguru said the attacks were “calculated evil, vindictive, ill intentioned” and “a distraction from the work the Ministry has been doing in the last two years”.
